The Federation of Seminary Spiritual Directors was founded in 1991 to support the work of those tasked with spiritual formation in Catholic seminaries.

PRESIDENT
Msgr. Andrew McLean Cummings is a priest ofthe Archdiocese of Baltimore and has served as the Coordinator of Spiritual Formation at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD since 2018.
Ordained in 1998, he initially served Maryland parishes. From 2002 to 2007, he ministered as a missionary in Russia, living alongside the Missionaries of Charity. Following doctoral studies in moral theology, he worked at the Vatican for the Congregation for Eastern Churches.
VICE-PRESIDENT
Rev. Kristian Teater is a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, serving as the Coordinator of Spiritual Formation and Assistant Professor of Spiritual Theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
Completing his seminary formation in Rome, he earned his S.T.B. from the Pontifical Gregorian University, followed by an S.T.L. from the Alphonsianum. He later obtained his Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality Teresianum. Fr. Teater frequently leads retreats including the 30-day.
SECRETARY
Rev. Earl C. Muller, SJ, is a Jesuit theologian, spiritual director, and resident scholar at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans.
Born in 1947, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1965. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and philosophy from Spring Hill College, a Master of Divinity from Regis College, and a doctorate in theology from Marquette University. Over his academic career, Fr. Muller has taught dogmatic theology at institutions including the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
